Time to be grateful
So today its my turn to issue a journaling challenge over at Memorable Seasons and here it is
Hello ladies, with Thanksgiving quickly approaching I thought I would make this months journaling challenge quick and simple. Now remember ladies as much as we all love scrapping and creating beautiful designs-its the story or words about the picture that are very important to those that we are leaving the creations for.
So for this months challenge I want you to journal about something or someone you are grateful for.
THAT'S it!
I used my Kit for this month. When I saw the tree and that it was only half of a tree. I decided to use these photos of my Uncle from my mom's side of the family and journal about his & my dads relationship and how strong it still is even though my mom is gone.
Remember you have til 11/30 at midnight to get your creation loaded to the gallery and linked back here to qualify for the monthly drawing. Cant wait to see what you create girls!
toodles,
Tami

Sketchy Thursdays and a sniff sniff
I just love when I see a sketch and RIGHT away I know what I wanna do. This happens alot for me with the sketches over at Sketchy Thursdays. While I have been able to play along with them much lately-I am excited that life is slowing down for a bit so I could join in this week. So here's the sketch
So when I saw it I immediately thought of a layout I have been wanting to do for quite sometime. And what hooked me was the lil paint splatters in the top right corner. Why you ask--well I wanted to do a page of my oldest son on his first day of the 8th grade and also a picture of his first day of kindergarten. Which for me was rough last year when that day came cuz that meant that would be the end of his time at his elementary school (they go K - 8th grade) and then would come high school-YIKES-soo not ready for that! Ok so it was last year but I still totally can feel the emotion I had on that day so I figured better get it scrapped while I can still feel and journal they emotions I felt that day. Those lil paint splatters to me represent my tears that I keep to myself becuz my boy is growing up. Thats why they are hidden behind the photo and just peek out a lil bit!
Now onto the fun stuff-I chose to break out my new goodies-Little Yellow Bicycle's Head of the Class line. Looove the design of this stuff and the quality-WOWZA!!! Of course I got it all at a GREAT price becuz I got it at my FAVE scrappy store MEMORABLE SEASONS. So here's what I came up with

Memorable Seasons challenge
Its my turn this week for a challenge-did you know that we have 2 challenges a week over at Memorable Seasons? All you have to do is post your entry in the gallery and link it back to the forum to be entered in a drawing for a monthly prize. Wont you come join us? Here's my challenge for the week
Hello ladies. So we have been seeing alot of work being done with strips of paper or borders as some like to call them. And in my kit this month I got this sheet of paper
and also this set of border stickers
so I thought how economical it would be to just those on a layout-and fun too I might add.
So I cut out a few of the strips straight, I also cut out the bottom border with the owls and fussy cut them, added a few from the sticker sheet and what a fun colorful combo I ended up with. And just for an extra added touch I scrunched some of the strips, angle cut one, and cut the ends of one with my deco scissors. So other than the base of my layout I only had to cut into one sheet of paper for my circle-the rest was from the two items listed above---NOW that is stretching your papers girls.
So hopefully I have inspired you today incase you are ever wondering what to do with that one sheet that usually shows up in a collection. Now let me see you strip it down and give me a layout for this challenge!
Remember you have until the end of the month at midnight to qualify for our monthly prize drawing! Now hurry and get ta scrappin!

1 TUff kid with a sketch
Well I finally got to play along with a Sketch from over @ Sketchy Thursdays. I just looove their stuff. So here's the sketch this week
These are some pic's of my youngest son after his last baseball game - he had to play catcher the whole game and the heat was HORRIBLE that day. SO in place of the circles they had on the sketch I chose to use some messy paint becuz to me it mimicks how messy he was after the game. And the stars well of course they represent him becuz he is my lil star player =)
So here's my take on the sketch-Thanks for looking

On the Hunt with a challenge
I decided once again to join the fun over at Once Upon a SKetch.
I mean a great sketch with a journaling challenge is soo right up my alley. Isnt that why we scrap-so the stories dont go untold?
Anyhow this week we were given this awesome sketch and we had to type our journaling. Now I must say this is a challenge for me cuz I make it a habit to handwrite my journaling. Its just a lil personal touch I like to have on the page. But after completing this challenge it sure is alot easier to type it up and you can get alot more journaling on there too. Cuz I am sure you can tell from my post I always have alot to say-LOL!
Onto my lo-well at our old house we lived by the woods (as we called them) and we used to go ride our 4wheelers alot there. Well one year it finally dawned on us why dont we have our Easter Egg hunt there-DUH! The kids soo enjoyed it and it became a new tradition for us. So thats the story on this one. I worked with the Crate Paper Neighborhood line-love the colors, it has just enuff pink in there not to be too overwhelming and well since we had our hunt with the neighbors well it was a no brainer-heheh! The egg doiley was such a steal at Wally world during Easter season only $1 for 40 of them. Gosh I will never use them all but hey ya never know I might just be sharing them with you.
Well there you have it for today-thanks for stopping by. Stay tuned for more goodies to come later in the week. I am working on a lo with stars---AHHHH my fave!

SKetches and spots-fun fun
So this week over at Once Upon a Sketch they posted another awesome sketch and the journaling challenge was to journal on a journaling spot. EASY PEESY huh!
Well as soon as I saw the sketch I knew exactly what I was gonna do-GOSH I love when I get instantly inspired like that. I had just gotten some of the Jillibean Dutch Mustard Soup papers. ANd can you believe I just bought some journaling sprouts-what in the world is wrong with me??? Those things are awesome-I have since bought 3 other sets-yep I am addicted. But I have an obsession with journaling spots so this challenge was a great way to dig in and use some of them up. Did you know they are not just for journaling-they are great for an embellishment for for your title placement-if the area you want to put your title is too buzy well stick a journaling spot in there to ground your title.
So off to my lo-well I have had these pics of my son - who btw is now ten, for along time. I love his lil sweet self in the photos but i absolutely HATE HATE these kind of cheezy backgrounds. As long as I have had children I would never let the photographers use those dumb things. Anyways his g-parents took him one Sunday after Church and had his pic made, so the background police wasnt there to put a stop to this. Well he looks so dang cute with his lil feet crossed and his chubby lil hands clapping I had to scrap them anyways. On my lo I combined some old JB pp with the new Dutch mustard soup becuz I wanted to focus on the #2, since he was two in the pictures. And with that came the sketch having 2 photos, and I carried the theme into my stitching-I did 2 lil hand stitches different places on the lo and 2 different fonts used in the title. Hope you enjoy and just maybe learned a lil something today.

Being a Mom is a Dirty job
Well this weekend is Mothers Day and of course Saturday is National Scrapbooking Day. So over at Memorable Seasons are having an online crop. We arent having a BUNCH of challenges just a few to get you going and try to win some prizes. We understand that its Mothers Day weekend so we dont wanna overwhelm you with challenges. So if you need to get your scrap on come join us.
Here is my challenge for the crop.
Being a Mom we have all kinds of dirty duties, mopping, dirty laundry, clean up sick kids and so on and so on. So my challenge to you is to scrap from the phrase
"Being a Mom is a Dirty job". That is sooo wide open for interpretation. As for me I took it literally and scrapped some photos of me and my boys and the local Mud Bog during the County Fair. I took them by myself, cant remember why Dad wasnt there but anyways we had a good time.
Here's my example
I took some brown acrylic paint mixed it with a lil bit of water and went to town splatting it all over the page and add some photos and journaling and WHA LA! I used some Echo Park, playground, walk in the park and lil boys line. Dont they just mix together so well.
Now I must add that I am soo addicted to the challenges over at The Paper Variety and this week their challenge is to get messy- so yes I too had that in mind when I was making this page. I loooove love to paint, mist etc on my lo's. So if you do my challenge well you can use it over there too-DOUBLE goodness!
Now get on over there and join us for a wee bit of fun.
toodles

Location location location
SO I have completed another challenge over at Once Upon a sketch
I loved the sketch soo versatile of course. Gosh I am really hung up on their sketches over there. These photos are of my husband at our condo in Gulf Shores. I am sitting down at the pool with the kids while he is up there watching football. I went waaay outta my way to make sure when I made the reservations that we would be able to watch our beloved Tn Vols play while we were at the beach. So when we were done with our game me and the kids went to the pool and he hung out watching all the other games that day. Some people think why would you scrap that well I wanted my kids to read the journaling and maybe someday they will be gracious enuff to think of others when doing the same thing.
I got to use up some of my fave line Cosmo Cricket Snorkel(which I am holding onto the rest REAL tight cuz its almost gone-insert sad face) and it mixed really well with the Studio Calico County Fair line. Hope you enjoyed looking!

Step into Spring Blog Hop
Hello and Welcome to my blog! Today we are celebrating the beginning of a new season with the Step into Spring Blog Hop brought to you by the Design Team from Memorable Seasons! If you did not start your hop today on the Memorable Seasons blog, please jump back over there so you do not miss anything.
Today we are looking at the word S-P-R-I-N-G and taking you through all the steps for creating a fabulous layout using an exclusive sketch created for this blog hop by Liz Chidester , which was the first step! And of course that would be for the letter S. If you have followed each step you should now be on the letter N.
And its my turn, so we have seen the sketch, picked the papers, used on packaging and inked everything up. So what comes next?
N= needs embellies
How appropriate that I "Miss Gaudy" get to do the embellie part of the lo. Now now girls don't be scared. This is alot easier than you think. Think of it like getting dressed for work, church or wedding. Ya know you have the outfit now you need some accessories to jazz it up.
So when deciding what to accessorize with I usually pick a bunch of stuff that would work well with the lo. So here's a photo of where my lo stands after the prior steps. Looks a lil naked dontcha think?
Here's some photos of the stuff I drug out to play with for my embellishments.
Now you dont have to drag out that much stuff but I wanted to show you a variety of stuff that would work. Remember there are no rules to what you can put on your lo. Heck I like to put "not normal" stuff on there it makes it more interesting and fun to look at.
So this first photo I pulled somethings and played around here in this first photo and I dont like it. The 3 buttons on the circle or the lil bunch at the top of the photo-just not working for me.
So here's the next take on it. Its getting better-we'll just keep playing around
Now here are some good rules to remember when adding embellishments to a page.
1. When you have busy, bold pattern papers-less embellies is a must. You dont want the page too too busy so that we are pulled away from our photos. Cuz isnt that whats this is all about?
2. When you have small pattern papers, 1 photo with a plain background aka wall, white background, black ground (you get the picture) well to me thats an open road to go embellishment CRAZY!
3. Now not all of us have "The Camera" so all of our photos arent just perfecto. So when you have something in the corner or the sides that are distracting from your photo-try putting some embellishment to cover it and watch how it draws your eye to the subject of the photo. I have done this on this lo-notice how I covered the staircase?
4. Lastly my own personal piece of advice--have fun with your embellishments-keep them packed in close together on your lo-it draws you to the photo better that way, and layer layer layer girls.
5. When making a cluster put the biggest item on the bottom and start layering from there making sure each piece shows thru-this is my FAVE thing to do. Besides I have an obsession that everything must be touching each other-ok now you know something weird about me--hehehehe!!!
And here is my example up to this point. Remember the rules stated up above-becuz these papers are soo bold and busy I decided to go with just a few embellies, but I did layer them up for added impact.
I have my photos and papers picked and have them placed as I have interpreted Liz's sketch, repurposed some Prima packaging, ink'd everything and dressed it up with embellies. Now we are off to Telah's blog to see what's next.
Be sure to leave me a comment telling me what you think about this step. By doing so, you will be one step closer to a fabulous Memorable Seasons prize as well as getting your name entered in for a RAK from me! Also, be sure to hop all the way until the end, where you will be taken back to the Memorable Seasons forum, where you will see a complete reveal of all the Design Team's finished layouts!

This is the youngest son-who choses to wear his Dad's baseball # and lucky for me Dad let me snap these pics (soo soo rare) and this sketch was perfect for these photos.
So first of all here's the sketch and following it is my take

A day of happinees and a wee bit of sadness.
Well today is my youngest sons 10th birthday. Double digits--make me sad. It only puts him closer to the teenage years. He is the youngest that means my days of having "children" are becoming no more. Soon I will be a mom of young men. UGH!
I think this has been secretly bothering me for a couple of weeks becuz without hesitation I have been scrappin his baby pictures (which BTW are looon overdue for scrappin) with such ease. Since I started scrappin late in their childhood I have this thing about saving these photos for the just the right paper or just the right challenge only becuz there arent as many to scrap as I would like. See I was a digi camera rebel for waaay too long. The first ones were soo horrible and the camera I had was one awesome 35mm that I had for years and it took such good pictures, until the day it gave up. Of course that day came at one of our low points economically wise so I had to make do with some disposables (worst pics EVA).
Anyways I saw a challenge for lots of handwritten journaling with a sketch of I knew when I saw it - it was perfect for the only picture I have of me and him when he was a baby. Oh gosh the amt of emotions I had swirling thru my brain during pregnancy--it was soo good to get them down on paper after all these years. I wanted it to come out just right and even now that I have finally done the page I am still not sure it sounds like I meant it. But it is done and boy did it feel good to get it done.
So if you have something like this on your mind-trust me this challenge is just for you. Hop on over to Once upon a sketch blogspot and get 'er done!

Gettin Sketchy Thursday with EP
Okay so I am soo hooked on this line of pp by Echo Park--you know the For the Record. And this weeks sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays was perfect to work this paper is small bits. Ya know so I can stretch it as far as possible =) Yes I could just go buy some more but I am trying to be frugal and make my purchase last longer--just like I do that large bag of shredded cheese I buy every stinkin week and then have to police it--cuz its ridicously expensive-LOL!!!
This lo is about the storyteller on the train ride we took at Christmas time. Yes I am scrappin Christmas-SHOCK I know. But for some reason when I saw these pps they made me think of these photos. This sketch works so well for it too-all those layers-its like the pages in the story to me. Kinda a weird thing to scrap but I couldnt resist cuz I loved her outfit and she was one of the best storytellers I have ever heard!
Anyways on to my lo----here it is! Would love to hear whatcha think ladies?
Happy Hump Day & toodles

MME and Frances
Well I got the new MME Stella & Rose line called Hattie. And OHHH how I love these colors! The name will kinda throw ya-it sounds like some girlie stuff. But its all blue and some gold with a bit of gray thrown in there. And I am soo in love with this new line. And of course if you want a really good deal on some of it you need to go to Memorable Seasons and snatch it up before its gone. Ya know Jill puts all the new stuff in the store @ 20% off when it first arrives. So hurry over and get you some.
Once again The Paper Variety has posted a fun challenge so I used my MME to make it happen. They are playing a game of tic tac toe. And I chose to go on the left side of the board 3 down. The requirements were, use 2 flowers, use a baby theme and make a layout.
This is my youngest son on his arrival home from the hospital. Frances is the woman that took care of my hubby when he was a baby and his younger years. He truly adores this woman and with the arrival of our son he just felt it wouldnt be right if he didnt get to meet Frances. She is a very kind soft spoken woman and I was so blessed to have met her and have her wrap her arms around my son--it was like we received her blessing that day. Sad to say she is no longer with us her on earth but I know she is watching from up above and enjoying the show.
Now if you wanna join me in the game of tic tac toe this week you need to hop on over to the Paper variety blog and get to scrappin!
And as an added bonus-you can go to The Scrappiest blogspot-Liz has some awesome sketches over there and that was how I jumpstarted this one!

Pride
WHOA I am such a bad bad blogger. I need to make this my new years resolution--NOT becuz if you know me I wouldnt keep it-LOL!
But here I am today to share a lo I did last night. I like to call it artsy fartsy-hehehee
I have just been a scrappin machine here lately and this one that I did last night I must say is one of my new faves. The pictures arent the greatest but it is some photos I wanted to scrap. Now u know I had to use a sketch cuz I am a sketch aholic. This one is based off the sketch over off the blog called Sketch Thursdays. Diana and Heidi always have the coolest sketches over there. I do them alot but dont seem to get them posted in for the challenge but low and behold this week I will make it in on time. Why do I like their sketches soo much well its cuz they leave sooo much room for you to put ur style on it. This one I wanted to just play around with my paint dabber and boy oh boy did I. I love the messy look of paint--so I swiped the cardboard and then did some BIG swipes as kind of a mat for my photos. I think I should have brought it further out on the right side but hey its art-RIGHT? Then when it was all glued down I decided to dab it sum more-fun fun!
And can you believe I used some flower paper for a football lo-WOWZA--so not me but I do love how this turned out. So thanks again Sketchy Thursday for always leading me in the right direction.
